RushmoreDrive.com, the Search Engine for the Black Community, in partnership with the National Alliance of Black School Educators and the Pearson Foundation would like to offer a high school senior the chance to win a $2,500.00 scholarship by entering our High School Essay Contest.
NABSE has declared “Education is a Civil Right” and insists that this country establish a zero tolerance policy on illiteracy, dropout and failure and we want to hear from our next generation of leaders.
We are interested in WHY high school seniors think Education is a Civil Right, so make sure your essay clearly identifies the reasons/factors for your opinion. The winning essay will be printed in the NABSE News Briefs and posted on RushmoreDrive.com and NABSE’s website.

Eligibility:

Seniors who are U.S. citizens, enrolled in a high school in the United States and are at least 16 years old. Finalists will be required to submit an official transcript from their high school, and winner must provide a social security number and confirmation letter for prize disbursement.


Essay must be solely the work of the entrant. Plagiarism will result in disqualification. Only one submission per contestant.


Format:

Essays must be submitted online at RushmoreDrive.com and must be a Microsoft Word file.


Entries should be between 500 (minimum) and 700 (maximum) words, and must be typed, double-spaced in Times New Roman, 12 point font. The upper right hand corner of the essay must include the student’s name, home address, phone number and high school. If the student does not have a home address or phone, the address and phone of the school is acceptable.


Deadline:

All entries must be received no later than Monday, November 3, 2008 at 11:59 p.m. Late submissions will not be accepted.


All entries become the property of RushmoreDrive.com and will not be returned.


Notification Of Winner(s):

Winners will be selected by a review committee and notified by email or regular mail by Monday November 17, 2008.
